Risk Management Seminar

Practical Governance and Risk Management (PGRM)

1 Day Executive Overview
2 Day Practical Implementation

The two day course consists of a day of concepts with practical examples to illustrate what happens when process controls are deficient at the governance, management or performance levels. Day one will provide the basics of the PGRM approach. (Agenda)

On the second day, participants work in teams through the PGRM control process on a case study which is derived from a real world business process. At the end of the day, each group is required to make a presentation to the class on how they have reengineered the process using the PGRM approach. They are also required to demonstrate 1) how they have improved the level of control in the process, and 2) how they have pulled costs out of the process.

All participants at publicly held PGRM courses receive a copy of the PGRM - Forms and Documentation software. Public PGRM courses are held several times throughout the year. Click on SCHEDULE for dates and locations.

Note: The Executive Overview is Day One of the 3 Day PGRM seminar

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • The role that effective governance plays in managing successful systems and processes
  • Who can perform effective process governance and why having the wrong people involved can spell doom for the project from the beginning
  • The disconnects that occur between Vice Presidents and middle management and the impact on the end business process
  • How to establish a process management structure to assure that there are no surprises at the executive level
  • To identify the "cultural resistance to change" that prevails in any company and how to establish process structures to minimize their adverse impact
  • How you can establish a process to know that detailed controls are working; and, if they stopped working, that you would know about it
  • To implement only those controls in processes that are focused on helping people be successful
  • Identify over-control situations to eliminate costly, unnecessary, duplicate controls AND save money
  • Combine the actions of people and the things that computers and machines do to create the most efficient control process possible
